Duties and Responsibilities of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs) are responsible for significant legal and technical responsibilities within the aviation industry. As per Rule 60 of the Aircraft Rules 1937, no aircraft can take off unless it has been certified as airworthy and released to service by appropriately authorised personnel. In India, this responsibility is exercised by licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers holding licences issued under Rule 61 of the Aircraft Rules 1937, read with the Aircraft Act 1934. Across the world, every civil-registered aircraft must undergo regular inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and certification before takeoff.
